Jessica Liggett is a 7 year old local girl who was diagnosed with a brain tumour. It is a very rare kind, called PNET and she is only the 3rd reported case ever. She had brain surgery on August 26 where they were able to successfully remove 94% of the tumour, but it was cancerous and she is undergoing chemo treatment. Her mother is with her everyday at the Children's Hospital in Vancouver, and as they will be there for the next 7 months she has had to close her at-home daycare. Her step-father continues to live in Victoria, working full time to pay the bills and travels to Vancouver on the weekends. Her father lives in Vancouver and he is spending most of his time at the hospital. Jessica has a 20 month old sister and her mother is having another child in late February, 2009.
If you would like to help relieve some of the travel costs and financial burden associated with her treatment please call 250-380-0881.
